Dear Sally,

I had a first-hand experience with flower power just last week as I took home a gorgeous arrangement from work. I ride the metro and the arrangement was about 3 feet high in lovely shades of peach, pink and purple —hard not to notice.

It was Friday, the end of a long hot week and generally not a time to see much besides tired grumpy people. But as I waited for the train those who walked by me smiled -- first at the arrangement and then at me. Several strangers struck up conversations about how pretty it was and went on to talk about how they loved flowers. Riding home, everyone sitting around me was smiling.

I read about it, write about it and love having and sharing floral gifts...but experiencing the instant power of flowers to bring a smile to people's faces was never more clear to me than it was last week.

You are so lucky to be a florist!

Thanks so much for mentioning the research on aboutflowers.com and helping to spread the great news about flowers!
